What's the serial number and I'll see what year it is for you. The .30-30/.35 Rem and a Marlin Lever action is as good as it gets and will do a fine job on anything east of the Mississippi. Post some pictures of it.

I think it will be just fine for hogs and deer down here in the swamp. It should also handle anything else you might run into like black bears. Good luck with it and let us know how it shoots for you.

The model 30A and the model 30AS were the same gun with the exception that the model 30/30A was labeled as part of the Glenfield line of guns.

In 1983 Marlin stopped marking the guns as Glenfields (model 30/30A) and started marking them as Marlin firearms (model 30AS).

In 2000 this same gun was renamed the model 336AS.

The guns were only offered in cal .30-30 Win.

The difference in value between the guns marked Glenfield and the ones marked as Marlins is about $100 across the board.

The value reflects the value in a name.... the marlin guns and the glenfield guns are practicly duplicate.

The Blue Book value on the rifle in 100% condition is $375. After that the value drops like a rock showing $150 for a gun in 90% condition.

The gun has a walnut stained birch stock. The model line (336A/336AS/30AS) was produced between 1983 - 2007 with the actual model number changing from model 30AS to model 336AS in 2000.

They are nice rifles and make a good shooter or hunting gun here in Florida.

          Hope this helps....

          Don

Nice rifle. I also own a 30AS. Mine is very accurate with my handloads.
