  • Concealed carry National and state forest

Anybody know about concealed carry in Ocala National and Gothe state forests. I have heard it is NOT legal?? Some thing to do with the Ocala is a National forest, therefore rules are different. Also restricted in some areas of the Gothe if designated as "wildlife" areas. Cannot get definitive answer.

Anyone in Florida with a CWP can carry a concealed weapon in any National Park, Forest, or Wildlife area or Florida State Park.

H 1029 - Right to Carry Guns in National Forests and State Parks - was sent to Governor Bush's office on June 5 and signed. It wanto into affect in October 1, 2006, Florida State Parks and National Forests in Florida are no longer off limits to concealed carry by permit holders. Effective July 1, 2006, permit holders will be able to carry concealed in Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs).

THIS HAVE BEEN THE LAW FOR SOMETIME

        Don:

Appreciate the reply. I could not find anything in the Fl. statutes that excluded the forests only the well known exclusions such as school, government building, sterile area of airport etc. I suppose the statute is the statute although apparently there are those who( myself included) are or were under the impression that some federal law (who knows what law) makes it illegal in national and/or state forests

Pick up a copy of Gutmachers book "Florida Firearms Law, Use & Ownerhip".

          It is on page 114.

The book is your best reference for easy to understandFlorida Firearms Law.

I live near Lake Woodruff wildlife refuge which I thought was a park. There is a big sign at the entrance that reads"no firearms allowed".

Is it because its a widlife refuge?
