No shots fired, but the Burglar got a large dose of reality when the Homeowner leveled a 12 gauge at him.

Elkins Park man killed after forcing his way into apartment

Jasper Brisbon, 32, wandered up to a couple late Friday at the Lynnewood Apartments as the pair spoke outside their unit. Brisbon, they told police, appeared to be on drugs. He stared at the pair for several minutes before the couple decided to go into their apartment, police said.

But as they entered their home Brisbon jumped between them, forcing his way in.
The male of the couple ran to get a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle and insisted Brisbon leave. Brisbon refused. Instead, as the man yelled “Stop! Stop Stop!” Brisbon moved menacingly toward the man, police said.

The man fired a shot striking Brisbon in the torso and immediately called 911, police said.

Man on Watts Road fends off home invasion

An armed robbery on Watts Road was stopped by a resident carrying his own firearm, and police are still searching for two suspects.

At approximately 11:03 p.m. on May 3, Madison police received a call to a home invasion in the 7000 block of Watts Road. Two suspects forced their way inside, confronting the victim with a handgun while demanding money, police report.
The victim then managed to arm himself with a firearm, which caused the suspects to flee, and no weapons were fired during this exchange, police stated.
The incident does not appear to be random, and the investigation is still ongoing, according to Madison police Sergeant Brian Chaney.

We don't like car jackers in Portland.

NOT the usual GGW story, but still interesting

This one is a little different, but still involves a gun, and the lady WILL know how to load and fire a shotgun in the future.

We can all agree that a .22 is not going to be the ideal self defense round, but that doesn't mean you can't use it effectively:

Police: Woman Shot Intruder 9 Times In Self Defense

"The male was armed with a kitchen knife, a struggle ensued between the two of them. She fell in the bathtub injuring herself," Gwinnett police spokesman Edwin Ritter said.

The woman tried to fight the man off with a shower a rod, and he forced her into her bedroom, police said. They said she told her attacker she had money in the room. But she grabbed a .22-caliber handgun and shot the man nine times, police said.
Police said the man ran out of a back door and collapsed in the yard. He later died at the Gwinnett Medical Center. The victim, who was injured in the scuffle, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

                            Burglar Shot, Killed by Homeowner

When burglarizing a big house you gotta work quickly. This guy obviously was not quick enough...

A man in the East Helena Valley of Montana returned home on Wednesday afternoon to find that someone had broken into his house. Only the burglar was still in the home and upon confronting him the homeowner shot and killed him.

The homeowner fired one shot at the man, hitting him once in the chest. The man then broke a window from the inside of the home in an attempt to quickly escape from the armed homeowner. He tried to drive off in a car, which police say was not registered to him, but hit a nearby fence. The man, who has not yet been identified, died in the car as a result of the gunshot wound.

Group of Thugs Target Seemingly Defenseless Woman — They Had No Idea She Had Been Frequenting the Gun Range

A group of thugs figured it would be easy to overpower one Kansas City woman. After all, her husband had just left to run an errand, leaving her all alone in the home.
They couldn’t have been more wrong.
The woman, later identified as Shirley Roberts, 52, immediately retrieved her gun after she heard someone jiggle the knob of the front door. She also witnessed two additional men heading to the back door.
Looking through the blinds, Roberts saw the men putting on gloves and preparing to force their way into her home. So she trained her firearm on the men and opened fire.

Homeowner Kills Robber With Samurai Sword

The Good Guy didn't use a firearm (though one was involved) but I thought this was worthy to post here, and I imagine he wished he had a gun.
Authorities say a central California homeowner killed a robbery suspect with a samurai sword during a home invasion. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says two suspects armed with a handgun and an axe invaded a house in Firebaugh near Fresno in the middle of the night Saturday intending to rob the home.
