  • Made my first friction folder...

Forged a 3/8" piece of 1095 down to 3/16", then shaped the blad3 and added jimping. Handle natural micarta with black micarta spacer. Stainless steel pivot and pins. Mosaic 1/4" stop pin. These are fun to make and use. They flip open like old school razors.

Good job, is that a skinning knife?

Looks like it would do a fine job at skinning a hog or deer. Good looking knife for sure....

That's the basic shape I found while researching blade shapes for old school pocket knives. It has a great feel in the hand. The blade is just over 3" long. I have ordered some wood I liked which I'm going to use with colored G10 as liners for my next one.

I see no reason that it couldn't be used as a folding skinner.

Nice looking knife. Does it lock back?

There's a tab that sticks out when closed. When open it folds into the handle like a straight razor. Your hand over it keeps it from closing. Old school method.
