  • Taurus - SHOT 2013

Posting some more info I found on Taurus at SHOT.

First, this is not my video, it is from Tactical Life, but it is an excellent narrative my Mark Kresser:

And here are a few pics of the Taurus booth:

I know BangBang already posted this pic, but I wanted to add some info:

    Some of the features:
    • Steel reinforced polymer receiver
    • Fixed front sight, adjustable rear sight
    • Grip built into magwell
    • Two position safety lever
    • Ambi mag release
    • Flat top aluminum upper receiver with Picatinny rail
    • 16" barrel
    • Polymer long handguard with short Picatinny rail on bottom as well

From what we hear, these will be available this year, as it looks like the importation issues have been resolved. Will update as reports come in. This looks like a very promising carbine, and I hope they are able to make them widely available at a reasonable price.

And here are some pics of the Diamondback ARs:

This will be a very interesting project to follow. I call it a project for several reasons. First, DB is a new relationship for Taurus, and we want to see how well they upgrade their customer service and quality control. Second, this is a new venture for DB as well, having been primarily focused on small ccw guns. But if they can all make this work, it is very promising due to the fact that they are already manufacturing many of the parts themselves, and the goal is to have the uppers, lowers, hanbguards, and bolt carriers all made in house. Looking at even making their own barrels. After speaking with the Taurus rep overseeing a lot of this, who is an AR gunsmith that understands what separates a great AR from a mediocre one, this has a good chance of being a great rifle.

This is part of the "Carry On" conceal carry focus of Taurus. This is a small and slim lightweight pistol, yet the grip still fills the hand and the magazine holds 12 rounds. Weight is 22oz, features a loaded chamber indicator, 3 white dot adjustable sights, 3.2in barrel, accessory rail, textured grip, and rounded edges. (Also available in the .40sw PT140)

They are 9mm and .40sw carbines. Not sure if the .45acp one will materialize...from what I have read, that one won't make it.
